Diagnosis

The diagnosis of vein diseases typically starts with a physical examination. The doctor will ask you to stand on a step to examine your legs for swelling and visible veins. It is recommended to wear loose-fitting shorts or change into them before your appointment.

Ultrasound test

In many cases an ultrasound test is required to see if the valves in your veins are functioning like they should or if a blood causes the symptoms you are experiencing. Usually patients are required to make another appointment with a technician but for the convenience of our patients our phlebologist are specially trained in ultrasound testing. The doctor runs a small hand-held device (also used during pregnancy tests) over your legs. The ultrasound creates images of the veins in your legs.

Additional testing

In some cases additional testing is required depending on the previous outcomes. Some tests can be conducted within the same appointment, such as a Doppler test. Other tests, like bloodtests, may be done via a third party.
