Ambulatory compression therapy

Patients with swelling of the legs (edema) can be treated effectively with a short stretch bandage. If applied correctly it can stay for a week at least.

Walking increases the effect of the bandage on leg edema. The return of the blood to the hearts is increased and the transport of fluid in the lymphatics is stimulated intensively. When the edema has disappeared, a compression stocking can be measured. Ambulatory compression therapy is also suitable for chronic venous leg ulcers that heal faster  with an adequately applied compression bandage.
