Reimbursed and unreimbursed care

Dutch reimbursed care of varicose vein treatment is included in your standard health care package. Which varicose vein treatments are included in the standard package is determined by the government. You do need a referral from your GP to get reimbursement. A referral is valid for a year. After this year you will have to ask your GP for a new referral.

Unreimbursed care is any care that is not part of your standard package. Sometimes you have a supplementary insurance for varicose vein treatment. You have to check the terms of your insurance policy for the content of your supplementary insurance. In the Dutch insurance package you always have to pay a compulsory excess of €385 ( 2016) for health insurance.

The price for a consultation/treatment is negotiated between Centrum Oosterwal and your health care insurance companies. Your health insurance company purchases healthcare from various care providers.

The costs of the treatment of varicose veins depends on which diagnosis is made. Referral for initial consultation and duplex examination (around € 250) is always reimbursed by your health care insurance and deducted from your compulsory excess.

If a diagnosis is established from class C0 - C2, then the actual treatment, injecting varicose veins (sclero-compression therapy) is not covered by your health insurance company and you must pay it yourself (indicative price of injecting varicose veins is € 147.50.

When the class C2 - C6 is set and truncal reflux is diagnosed the treatment of eliminating the reflux (leaking valves) is in the basic package and is fully reimbursed by your health insurer.Thermal ablation ( Endovenous laser and RFA ) and Clarivein is reimbursed in symptomatic patients. The Venaseal Glue method is not yet reimbursed.   Additional cosmetic treatment like phlebectomy and (foam) sclerotherapy is not covered in your basic package.

If you wish to pay for the treatment, please view our prices above.
